Teachable Moments: Putting your values into action

By  |  0 Comments

Although shot overseas, scenes of people asking for food is not uncommon in some of the heartland hawker centres.

How do we advise our children when we meet the less privileged?

Do we scrunch up our face and say “No”? Do we pray that they move on quickly if they look sickly and dirty?

Character Education, while it is taught to your child in school, it is more of the school helping our children form moral knowledge. At the end of the day, parents are the ones to are in the best position to help their children join these dots.

The school environment might not provide enough authentic opportunities for the students to exercise what they learn during Character Education. Parents can help by actively identifying teachable moments whenever they are with their children.

Here is another post which John, founder of EduMatters, posted awhile back.
